Will 'Vision Zero' Cut DC Taxes?

The Washington Business Journal reports a District plan to boost fines on about 20 different traffic offenses, whose affect would add additional revenue, may inadvertently lead to additional tax cuts.

The D.C. Department of Transportation on Dec. 10 as part of the "Vision Zero" traffic safety campaign indicated it would count as recurring revenue for the purposes of a tax-cut schedule.

The D.C. Council passed in 2014 a schedule of cuts that would automatically go into effect as revenue climbed, as long as recurring revenue projections showed an increase over the previous year.
