More than $87,000 was raised and the fundraising continues through an online auction here through December 3.

Vice President Joe Biden extended congratulations in a letter read to Becky’s founder Becky Lee as some 500 attendees applauded.

Other professional athletes modeling included four-time Olympian Sanya Richards-Ross (track and field); two-time Olympian Giuseppe Lanzone (Team USA rower); Baltimore Raven’s Jameel McClain; former Ravens Visanthe Shiancoe; former New York Jets John Booty; former New England Patriots Shawn Springs; and DC United’s Dwayne de Rosario.

In the spirit of giving, Georgetown’s il Canale ristorante and pizzeria provided guests with complimentary freshly made Italian cannoli to take home, or if they couldn’t wait, to eat in the car afterwards.

Beats texting.

Il Canale Executive Chef Antonio Biglietto and his staff spent Friday morning preparing the cannoli in the restaurant’s kitchen on 31st Street NW.

Then, those desserts were tucked into special gift boxes with a cookie for post-event enjoyment by guests at the embassy that night.

Each year Becky’s Fund hosts the fashion show which highlights professional athletes taking a standing against violence. All proceeds from this year’s event support Becky’s Fund Men of Code program that works with high school athletes and coaches in the DC public schools teaching them how to be leaders in ending and preventing date violence.
