Voice of the Inaugurals Charlie Brotman Makes News After the Parades
Tony Cibel, owner of Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place at Washington Harbour celebrated with birthday boy Charlie Brotman and over 140 guests who came to roast and toast the 85-year old local public relations icon.
The week before Brotman was recognized by national press and all major TV networks for being “the voice” of over 17 presidential inaugural parades since Harry S. Truman was president.
But longtime friend and MC Andy Ockershausen joked, “ harlie hates publicity, like he hates his right arm.”
Local celebrities and friends including NBC 4’s Chris Gordon, sports radio host Jim Bohannon, Comcast SportsNet Mid Atlantic President and GM Rebecca Schulte, Mark Tuohey, Chairman of the Sports commission who brought baseball back to Washington, Dusty Harrelson, local boxer champion-to-be, Washington Nationals baseball owner Mark Lerner and former Washington sportscaster Warner Wolf were all on hand to cheer Brotman into his 86th year.
“Charlie thanked well wishers while former member of a Redskins Super Bowl team, Brig Owen, recited “I wish I were 18 again.”
