This year's theme—“The 1751 Gala: Before There Was America, There Was Georgetown"—is a reminder that Georgetown's story began in 1751, decades before the birth of our nation. The cobblestone streets, historic homes, tree-lined blocks, and unmistakable village charm didn't simply happen—they have been carefully protected by generations of residents who believed Georgetown was worth preserving.
Today, that work is as important as ever.
With ongoing discussions about changing preservation policies and increasing development pressure, the Citizens Association of Georgetown continues to advocate for the thoughtful stewardship of our historic neighborhood. If we want Georgetown to remain Georgetown—for our children and grandchildren—someone has to speak up for it.

The evening promises to be both meaningful and fun. Guests can enjoy cocktails, dinner, lively entertainment, and a few surprises throughout the night. Host Committee members will also be treated to a special bourbon tasting before the festivities begin.
Whether you've lived in Georgetown for fifty years or just fell in love with it yesterday, this is an evening to celebrate everything that makes our little village unlike anywhere else in Washington.
