That's The Way to Move

The Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund hosted a kick-off event Thursday night for its fourth annual 5K race, which will be Sunday, September 23rd on the Georgetown Waterfront at the C&O Canal Trail. Starting time is 10 am.

The Brazilian-themed kick-off was held at BoConcept on M St in Georgetown. A Brazilian dancer gave samba lessons and performed several dance numbers. Brandel France de Bravo, the fund’s communication director, spoke about the importance of dance and other types of exercise for cancer prevention. Brandel said staying fit and keeping excess weight off is a great way to help avoid all types of cancer

A silent auction, including items such as a bike tour of Washington, D.C., and massages from Georgetown Sports Massage, raised over $400 for the fund. When guests weren't dancing or bidding, they enjoyed appetizers and wine provided by il Canale (1063 31st Street NW) and and Rustik Tavern (84 T Street NW).
