A fire at 3109 M Street was reported Wednesday morning around 10:00 am. The building is home to Steve Madden shoe store and Wink boutique.

A crew of DC firefighters extinguished the blaze before noon.

Wednesday afternoon, a portion of M Street remained closed to traffic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
