"Pie Girls" baked into new reality show

Take the ingredients of the successful "D.C. Cupcake," substitute three sisters for two, add pie crust to the mix and bake. The result? The latest D.C.-centric reality show in the works, following three sisters as they open a new pie shop in Georgetown, O'B.Sweet. Northern Virginia natives Alli, Erin and Cat Blakely are being followed by cameras as they prepare for the

opening of their bakery on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and O Street. Crews were spotted last month filming the girls as they worked on the store and also when they catered desserts at a wedding at Holy Trinity Church. Filming began in the Fall when the girls picked fresh fruit at a local farm to use in their pies. The reality show does not yet have a network, but it is being produced by the same people who brought TLC its show about the two sisters that run the popular Georgetown Cupcake. And like those sisters, the Blakely girls quit their "real" jobs--Erin was a fashion buyer for BCBG Max Azria and Alli was a government contractor--to do start a business out of what they've been doing since they were little girls. But reality show or not, many of us Georgetowners just want to know what the new sweet shop will bring to the neighborhood. I met up with Alli and Erin last month at a local Starbucks to talk about what us Georgetowners can expect with the opening of the store--which will apparently owe something to the cupcakes who went before them. "One of our most popular items are our 'cuppies' which are mini pies served in a cupcake wrapper," Erin Blakely described about the hand-held treat. For those wanting a bigger sized pie, the sisters said they will also offer 4", 7" and 9" pies in such flavors as apple caramel crunch, peach, key lime and banana cream. And if you're looking for something more savory, they told me they plan to bake-up such classics as chicken pot pie. Visit O'B.Sweet here.
