Negotiations Underway Between il Canale & Cannon's Fish Market
The owners of il Canale, georgetown, and Cannon’s Fish Market are in preliminary negotiations for il Canale to take-over Cannon’s closed space on 31st Street near the C&O Canal, The Georgetown Dish has independently confirmed.
Both establishments are side-by-side neighbors. il Canale is at 1063 31st Street. Cannon's is at 1065 31st Street.
Cannon’s has been a seafood market since 1937.
Il Canale, a ristorante and pizzeria, opened in 2010 under the ownership of Italian-born Joe Farruggio, who also has restaurants in Virginia.
The following sign was posted on Cannon’s front door in August:
“Cannon’s regrets to inform its customers that it is closing for the next few months as of Aug, 11 for medical reasons.”
The shop has been shuttered since that time.
