Mean Streets of Georgetown

In as many days, three reported crime incidents have occurred on the streets of Georgetown.

According to D.C. police, on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at approximately 9:00 pm, two male victims were walking in the area of 33rd and N Street when they were approached by two unknown suspects, one wearing a mask and armed with a handgun. The armed perpetrator announced the robbery whereupon both suspects forcibly removed the victims’ property to include cell phones, currency, etc. The offenders were last seen the 3300 block of N Street.

The offenders in this offense are described as follows. #1 – black male, approximately 5’9” in height, slim build wearing all dark clothing wearing a mask and armed with a dark colored handgun. #2 – black male, approximately 6’0” in height, slim build wearing all dark clothing. Both offenders were described as having dreadlocks.

A female Georgetown University student was sexually assaulted early Sunday near Georgetown University campus.

The woman was injured in the assault, which occurred about 2:15 a.m. on 36th Street just north of N Street, the campus public safety department said.

The suspect was described as a white man, between 18 and 22 years old, about 6 feet tall, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans, the safety department said.

The site of the attack is about one block east of the main campus and is near university buildings that are just off campus.

Last Friday, as reported by The Georgetown Dish, an iPhone was taken from a customer at Starbucks on Wisconsin Avenue.
