Matthew Curry at Addison/Ripley
Solo exhibition of new work.
Addison/Ripley (A/R) is pleased to present Altars, a solo exhibition of new work by Matthew Curry. Opening reception for the artist is Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 5:00- 7:00 pm. Coffee & Conversation is Saturday, March 7, 2026 starting at 11:00 am.
Curry is a multidisciplinary artist, designer and art director whose practice operates at the intersection of fine art, graphic design and technology. Grounded in an iterative process that bridges analog and digital methodologies, his work explores the evolution of visual language within contemporary culture. The works presented in Altars reflect a sustained engagement with materiality, form and communication—an ongoing inquiry into how image-making functions across aesthetic, technological, and cultural systems.
As William Gibson writes in Neuromancer (1984), "a vision of cyberspace emerges as lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind." Curry's work similarly evokes layered environments where fragments of language, gesture and symbol collide - reflecting the tension between physical and digital experience. The resulting compositions form a meditation on perception in a crowded, chaotic world where coherence, intimacy and meaning are continuously sought amid the noise of contemporary life

This exhibition builds on Curry's 25 - year career as an art director, designer and visual storyteller working across pop culture, multinational corporations, nonprofits and small businesses. Based in Washington, DC, Matthew Curry Studios reflects his longstanding commitment to collaboration and cross-disciplinary thinking - an approach that has informed projects with Sheryl Crow, Jeff Koons and a wide array of global and local clients.
Curry's experience spans print, interactive media, branding, video and animation, allowing his work to move fluidly between commercial and independent contexts. Equally comfortable presenting to stakeholders in corporate settings and exhibiting in galleries and cultural institutions, Curry specializes in visual storytelling, collaborative problem solving and the creation of design systems that translate seamlessly across mediums and audiences.
A/R Addison/Ripley Fine Art is located at 1670 Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown.
