Magic & Mystery

Cirque is back and the magic and mystery of Cirque du Soleil will once again captivate audiences in the DC area under the big blue and yellow tent at National Harbor.

The newest show, titled Amaluna, is a coming of age story full of music, dance and the signature acrobatics that put Cirque on the map. This latest show is directed by Tony award-winning director Diane Paulus and marks the 32nd production in the Cirque lineup.

According to the story of the show, “Amaluna is a fusion of the words ama, which refers to “mother” in many languages, and luna, which means “moon”; a symbol of femininity that evokes both the mother-daughter relationship and the idea of goddess and protector of the planet. Amaluna is also the name of the mysterious island where this magical story unfolds.”
