They opened in January at 5108 MacArthur Boulevard NW in the spot formerly occupied by The Fox at the Palisades.
Attired in his Little Beast tee, Tom Gordon explained that this family-owned neighborhood restaurant’s name and beastly interior were inspired by the owner (his brother) Aaron Gordon’s daughters Mila and Vivian. And the giant monsters murals? Painted by German artist Kim Köster.
There are three Little Beasts around town: Chevy Chase, DC, their flagship location, Palisades and, their latest in Falls Church, VA.
What makes this location extra special I asked Tom. “We have incredible breakfast sandwiches, daily until 3:00 pm, amazing coffee, soft serve ice cream and fabulous pasties. Chef Naomi Gallega is one of the best pastry chefs I’ve ever come across.”
It’s a popular spot for parents dropping off kids before school and coming back in the late afternoon for pizza. Their Detroit selections, created by Chef Naomi are “almost bruschetta with a crispy crust, deep but fluffy.”
They also offer a custom 12” round gluten-free variety. Of course I had to try all three! I sampled Tom’s favorite, the Detroit “Greenfield Village” (brick cheese blend, ricotta cheese, green peppers, mushrooms, artichokes, spinach, black olives, tomato sauce) and the Nonna “Beasty Boy” (whole milk mozzarella, fresh tomato sauce, sausage, mushroom, green pepper, red onion).
Super kid friendly, but adults take take note: Little Beast has a full liquor license!
Coffee house, bistro and SERIOUSLY the best pizza in town!
