Halloween Tricks and Treats in Georgetown
Halloween started early in Georgetown, with sold out performances of The Picnic Theatre Co.'s production of "An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe" at Dumbarton House Thursday and Friday. But fear not, the Halloween energy will grow this weekend due to Saturday's events on the Mall, when Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart rile up fans during their respective “Preserving Fear” and “Restoring Sanity” rallies. (What's your costume?) Like the Tea Party, this crowd will head to Georgetown afterwards. Later, rap superstar Lupe Fiasco performs at Georgetown University (students and non-students can purchase tickets). Expect crowds. Also Saturday, Bo Blair's The Rookery (2519 Pennsylvania Ave., NW) has a $40 open bar from 9-12, featuring live music from Over The Line. Mr. Smith's of Georgetown (3104 M Street) is holding Halloween festivities while Cabanas on the waterfront (3050 K Street) is having a party from 9 – 2 a.m. with a $50 open bar (no cover charge with a Halloween costume). On Sunday, Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons invites all bar and restaurant patrons to come in costume. L2 Lounge in Cady’s Alley will be having a costume party from 8 p.m. (open to both members and non-members, with no cover required). That night, if you’re up for more, Paper Moon is having a dance party with a DJ from 10 p.m on. Don't try to park in Georgetown -- police traditionally block off many streets due to the overwhelming amount of foot traffic. If you know of other events, e-mail email@example.com. Keep checking The Georgetown Dish between now and Sunday for updates about Halloween in Georgetown.
