Georgetown Village Crystal Anniversary Gala

Honoring Kitty Kelley!

Written by Sherri Ann Green

In the ballroom of City Tavern DC decorated with green and ivory floral linens and oranges roses, and filled with Georgetown Village members, community supporters and sponsors, Georgetown Village honored Kitty Kelley at their 15th anniversary Crystal Gala on Thursday, May 7th.

Kitty’s many professional accomplishments over the course of her storied career as a journalist and investigative biographer speak for themselves. Open a major newspaper or walk into a bookstore and take a look at the best-seller section ; you are likely to find Kitty there.

The Georgetown Village, however, honored her not for her career accolades, but based on the power of community and the power of neighbors helping neighbors thrive. Kitty Kelley the best-selling author is our neighbor, supporter, Georgetown Village member, and Georgetown cheerleader.

The mission of Georgetown Village is built on a simple, powerful idea: that we are better, stronger, and more vibrant in community. They honored Kitty for her work as a builder of community here in a neighborhood that she has called the “loveliest 12 square blocks in Washington” and for her commitment to championing the Village community.

The Gala was a true celebration of Georgetown with hors d’oeuvres and desserts provided by restaurants from the community including Brasero Atlantico, Clyde’s of Georgetown, Martin’s Tavern, Peacock Café, 1310 Kitchen & Bar, Filomena Ristorante & Dog Tag Bakery. Beverages were provided by Potomac Wine & Spirits and Bacchus Wine Cellar. Table linens were donated by Tuckernuck and the beautiful flowers were a gift of Georgetown Safeway.

The gracious host for the evening was City Tavern DC and owners Kristin and John Cecchi were able to attend and welcome the group to their lovely venue.

It was a true taste of Georgetown from start to finish.
