Georgetown Glow Dec. 11-20

Georgetown GLOW invites visitors to re-imagine the season of light through public art. Now in its second year, GLOW is even bigger for 2015, expanding from a weekend-long celebration to a 10-day exhibition from Friday, December 11 through Sunday, December 20, with works lit from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. nightly. Georgetown GLOW is FREE and presented by the Georgetown Business Improvement District.

This year's exhibition encourages contemplation of, and interaction with, the natural environment. The intimate, historic C&O Canal—a beautiful, meditative waterway reminiscent of Georgetown’s founding as a port town just steps from bustling M Street—will serve as the primary location for the works.

Up to five site-specific installations, commissioned by local, regional and international artists, will be on view along or adjacent to the C&O Canal and Georgetown Waterfront Park.

With its charming buildings, yuletide decorations, and more than 450+ stores, restaurants, galleries, and salons to shop and dine, Georgetown is the D.C. area’s top stop for all things holiday. In addition to the exhibition, be sure to take a self-guided tour of the uniquely decorated merchant windows for the 4th annual Holiday Window Competition kicking off Saturday, November 28th. You'll have a chance to vote for your favorite on Georgetown’s Facebook page. And the holiday celebration in Georgetown continues at Washington Harbour where you can take a spin on the region's largest outdoor ice skating rink!
