DIGEST DESIGN XX: Ornare
Brazilian luxury in Georgetown.
Tucked in Cady’s Alley behind an ivy-covered brick wall is the Ornare showroom. Specializing in unique, high-quality and fully customizable kitchens, closets and bathrooms, this leading Brazilian luxury design company has a four-decade tradition of fine craftsmanship. It’s a global brand but one that was new to me.
I had the pleasure of a private tour with DJ Freitas, sales director, Vitoria Sarmento, interior architect, and Emanuella Correia, sales associate.

“DC is Ornare’s ninth US showroom and our 34th showroom worldwide,” DJ explained. “Our company started in Sao Paolo in 1986, with our first US location in Miami 19 years ago.”
This family-run company is managed by its founders, Murillo and Esther Schattan and their children. Everything is produced and pre-assembled in Brazil and all the showrooms are designed by their Brazilian marketing team, sharing the same modern look worldwide.

Ornare offers both residential and hospitality high-end custom design. An example: they wrap metal doors with Ornare wood and add handles as a special consideration for commercial fire doors.
The first thing that caught my eye was the Timeless kitchen line. Ventilated solid wooden slats that create an effect of light and shadow. Stunning! This line is also featured in closets and doors. And, no accident, their signature home fragrance is called Timeless.

From exquisite Brazilian Gramaco natural stone (the most beautiful colors and veining I’ve ever seen) to touch-lighting embedded everywhere, from behind cabinets, to between shelves and in closets. Every detail is intentional.
Vitoria described the Ornare aesthetic, “Inviting! Customization that feels like home. We create a sense of warmth with textiles. Even the temperature of the lights. It’s a cozy, calm embrace of all of these elements.”
Indeed!

Ornare is located at 3340 Cady's Alley in Georgetown.
