Celebrating Fat Tuesday

Ada Polla got us in the Mardis Gras mood. Here are some local ideas for celebrating Fat Tuesday.

  1. Clarendon Mardis Gras Parade: Known as the biggest Mardis Gras celebration in Washington, the parade includes live music, beads, and floats decorated by local stores. It starts at 8:00 pm at the intersection of Wilson Blvd, and North Barton Street.
  2. Bayou Bakery: The first New Orleans style restaurant in Washington D.C., Bayou Bakery will offer Beignets, beads, and King Cake by the slice until 5:00 pm. From 5:00 pm-11:00 pm choose of three Mardis Gras tickets (depending on how many drinks you want). Rappahannock River Oysters will be available for free, and a celebrity mixologist will be mixing the drinks. 1515 N. Courthouse Road. Tel. 703.243.2410.
  3. Central Michel Richard: Live music from 7:00-10:00 pm, with traditional New Orleans food, cocktails. Free beads are also included. 1001 Pennsylvania Ave, NW. Tel. 202.626.0015.
  4. Clyde's of Georgetown: Expect beads, masks, specialty cocktails, and Cajun-inspired twists on Clyde's favorites. 3236 M Street. Tel. 202.333.9180.
