MPD Lt. John Hedgecock warned an otherwise routine ANC meeting about a sexual assault Sunday against a female who was awakened by the suspect at about 7:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of S St. NW.
"This is a big city," Hedgecock told the ANC. "We have the same problems as any big city. Don't make it easy. Don't be so trusting. Lock your doors, stay in groups. When you have house parties, don't leave the doors open all night long."
Hedgecock reported excellent cooperation from Georgetown University's public safety officials. Nonetheless, the officer did not offer details of the crime.
The suspect has been previously described as white male of average build with brown hair, wearing a blue shirt. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746).
