Tulips warm up spring for Georgetown Garden Tour

The Georgetown Garden Tour takes place Saturday, May 7 to celebrate some of Georgetown's unique private gardens. The Georgetown Garden Club promises a diverse tour with "wonderfully creative solutions to the many hallenges presented by the confines of urban living."

The tour will feature nine of Georgetown’s most spectacular gardens. Every garden on the Tour will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Over the years, the garden tour has featured a wide variety of gardens with spacious sweeping lawns and majestic trees to intimate outside rooms.

Christ Church, 31st and O Streets, NW will serve as headquarters for the tour. In addition to purchasing tickets at the Church, one may also peruse the unique Garden Boutique which will offer beautiful topiaries, fine porcelain vases, and unusual gardening tools for sale.

Included in the ticket price is a delectable afternoon tea served at Keith Hall, Christ Church from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The not-to-be missed tea features cookies, tea sandwiches and sweets, all handmade by members of the Georgetown Garden Club.

Proceeds from the tour go to the the preservation of historic parks and public spaces. Past beneficiaries include Book Hill, Georgetown Public Library, the Waterfront Park, Montrose Park, Rose Park, Trees for Georgetown, Volta Park Habitate Garden, and the Student Conservation Association at Dumbarton Oaks Park. Tickets are $30. before May 2.
