It's as easy as 1, 2, 3 - throw it on, button it up, cinch the waist - the effortless shirt dress!  This universally flattering, elongated button-down will be something you'll throw on all summer long whether you're heading out to brunch or shopping with friends, it's truly a summer trend to savor.  Plus, it will keep you cool!

Add a belt if the one you find doesn't come with one - but usually they do - so that you avoid looking like a potato sack.  Use a wide or skinny belt and it will cinch your waist and provide you with a fabulous silhouette.

Shirtdresses are extremely versatile.  They can be worn with or without belts, depending on the look you're going for.  If you want to create a more relaxed look, ditch the belt!  Throw it on with some boots, heels or sandals and you're ready to go.  When the weather turns cooler, pair your shirtdress with a pair of tights and you're good to go.

Urban Outfitters in Georgetown has several cute shirtdresses available for around $60.  Nordstrom has a super cute silk shirtdress I just scooped for $78 and it goes great with a pair of strappy tan sandals or nude heels.  Elie Tahari also has a great selection to choose from.

The shirtdress comes in so many different versions, from a classic cotton to a sexy silky, that button all the way down or half way.  A classic khaki or baby blue shirt dress will give you a crisp and classic look.  A sexy black cotton or floral print silk shirtdress will give you that city-chic look.  All of these will go a long way and provide the comfort of a button down and an A-line skirt all in one!  It's a win-win!

Also, if you think the dress is too sheer, no fear!  Plenty of specialty stores sell the perfect slip you can throw on underneath to make it work.

XOXO

I love the look of shirtdresses, but I've come to the conclusion that as a tg person I can't pull them off by themselves because I have broad shoulders and muscular arms and they make me look boyish. I wish that weren't the case.
