Phil Mendelson interviews with the Dish

The Georgetown Dish has caught up with Phil Mendelson, an At-Large councilmember running for re-election and arguably one of the harder candidates to spot this political season.

Among voters, it seems that Mendelson has remained popular. He has racked up several important endorsements, including the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club's nod, despite the fact that his opponent, Clark Ray, offers the LGBT Democrats another openly gay councilmember if elected.

But Mendelson has, for at least a few weeks, been unavailable for interviews with the Dish. He sent a proxy to the recent Ward 4 candidate forum, which had one of the largest candidate panels to date, including the often-absent incumbent Mayor Adrian Fenty, and his re-election website has recently been out of commission for a considerable length of times, by campaign standards.

So, below, is what we've heard from Mendelson.
