Macron! Macron! Macron!

We’d like to thank President Macron. Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron, recently elected President of France, is a popular political figure. In Washington, DC, he’s revered and we’ll tell you why. Gérard Araud was appointed Ambassador of France to the United States in September 2014. In May of 2017, Ambassador Araud was scheduled to return to France. In true French fashion, there was a farewell Champagne blowout at the Residence. It was, of course, an elegant blast – as all parties are there. Enter President Macron: Amb. Araud was not recalled. Enter a ‘welcome back’ party in September. As you can see, if President Macron had not been elected then we would have lost one of the best diplomatic couples ever! With that in mind, we’d like to again thank The President of France. And to remind us of his recent successful visit to the US – well, they had another party!

Guests gathered mostly on the patio including Marie Royce who was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate and sworn in as Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs. She will oversee a wide range of programs that advance US foreign policy objectives through educational, professional, cultural, and sports exchanges that promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people of other nations and create networks and partnerships to advance US foreign policy goals and address global challenges and opportunities.
