A Fork by Any Other Name

They opened in April and now they need your help. La Forchetta, the new Italian Wesley Heights restaurant owned by Hakan Ilhan (Chef Roberto Donna's in the kitchen) is asking patrons to participate in a new name selection process.

Guests can visit La Forchetta and submit their proposed name choice and contact information starting Monday, July 23rd through August 15, 2012.

A decision for the new name will be made and announced on the afternoon of August 16. The person responsible for contributing the best name, determined by Hakan and his team, will be rewarded with a donation of $2,000 in his or her name to be given to the charity of their choice. Owner Ilhan presently has a few name choices he is considering ,but wants to see if the community presents a better option for his restaurant before finalizing his decision. Even if the top name is not picked over Hakan candidate, the winner will each be awarded the $2,000 donation prize as runner-up in the contest.

“Despite filing trademark and trade name registrations before opening, another business in the Washington area with a similar name has expressed concerns about possible confusion of our name with theirs. "Since we have only recently opened, and are happily becoming one of Washington’s most popular new restaurants, we have decided to search for a more distinctive identity,”" states Hakan Ilhan. "“Guests can be assured that the menu and prices will not change and Chef Roberto Donna will continue to provide his legendary cuisine under the new name.”"
