Not seeming to mind the New York heritage or national reach of an event transplanted to local streets, Georgetowners mixed and mingled their way through a successful village-wide party, Fashion's Night Out, that filled sidewalks, stores and streets with residents and Georgetown business owners alike.
Ada Polla and Alchimie-Forever, the studio for skincare on Wisconsin, hosted a full house of glamorous women sipping champagne and sampling products. Jewelry from Ann Hand was also on display, with Lia Jakubowitz on hand to help host the party.
Dr. Tina Alster and Maria Keating Titelman did their duty, checking out the offerings at Intermix, where Kate Michael entertained friends Sonya Gavankar, an on-air host at the Newseum, and Shereen Said of Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa.
FNO began as a promotion for New York's Fashion Week. But it has become a global publicity juggernaut of its own, spreading from Arizona to Turkey, and many points in between. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg renamed the city's No. 1 subway line "The Fashion Line" for the week.
Kassie Rempel of Simply Soles, meanwhile, hosted Lisa Church, "Chick in Charge" of Stiruppz, a product that keeps jeans from bunching up inside boots, and Virginia Blanca Arrisueño, a designer who works alongside skilled artisans in Perú to create the DeNada collection of handwoven knits. Rempel is soon to announce a new Simply Soles, opening at National Harbor.
