Voters in the District voted overwhelmingly to approve the referendum to make DC the 51st state.

In Georgetown, six Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners (ANC) in Ward 2 were elected for two-year terms: Ed Solomon, Joe Gibbons, Rick Murphy, Lisa Palmer, Jim Wilcox, Monica L. Roaché, and Zachary Schroepfer. Jack Evans ran unopposed for council member.

These commissioners review all development in the historic district and all local liquor licenses. They work to improve parking and traffic; to repair streets and sidewalks; to gain a citizen voice into street closings for things like utility cuts, road races and movie filming; to increase public safety; and to recognize outstanding contributions to the community.

80% for DC Statehood was a great result. Need to keep after this goal...
