Georgetown elected two new ANC commissioners Nov. 2: Jake Sticka and Jeff Jones.

Georgetown University students, by and large, elected fellow student Sticka commissioner of SMD 2E04, replacing GU student Aaron Golds, “with a whopping six votes,” says Vox Populi.  Vox interviewed Sticka, who had the following to say about his first priority as commissioner:

My first priority on the commission will, for obvious reasons, be the Campus Plan. It is the most contentious issue before our ANC today and one which has become defining in student-neighbor relations. Long-term, I think our commission needs to take steps to address student safety in the surrounding areas, particularly in Burleith.

Residents of the “twelve square blocks sandwiched between Georgetown University and Wisconsin Avenue” elected Jones commissioner of SMD03 with 124 votes.  The Georgetown Dish interviewed Jones, who had the following to say about how he would approach the position:

If elected, Jones plans to continue the ANC tradition of "balancing out very strong opposing opinions and thoughts and needs by different groups," he says diplomatically. Jones stresses the importance of weighing different interests before making a decision with regard to zoning variance discrepancies and the university expansion project.
