Art is Front Burner in Kitchen Design Studio

Kitchens are living spaces. Isn't that why everyone ends up in the kitchen at every great party?

But they can also be a place for art and design, which was clearly the case in Cady's Alley Wednesday night.

Bulthaup DC takes kitchen design to a new place. bulthaup was founded in 1949 by Martin Bulthaup, a minimalist German designer. Son Gerd took over as head of the company in 1978 and brought in Otl Aicher, co-founder of the Ulm school, drawing from the tradition of the Weimar Bauhaus movement. Their ideas transformed kitchens, and design.

"If I could have a bulthaup kitchen I'd probably just go ahead and sleep in it too," says a fan. And host an art opening.
