Tweeting and texting or old fashioned contributing online all are ways you can get help to earthquake victims in Haiti. Surprisingly, texting or tweeting cash donations may be slower than using your credit card online, because money may not be distributed to the charity you have chosen until you pay your phone bill containing that charge. Best advice is to donate to relief organizations already working in Haiti, such as:
- Mercy Corp
- American Red Cross
- Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s United States operations
- Food for the Poor
- The United Nations Foundation for the UN Central Emergency Response Fund.
