National Democratic fundraiser and Georgetowner Nancy Jacobson organized a conference call last week to promote Republican-turned-Independent Florida Gov. Charlie Crist's Senate bid, according to CQ.
Jacobson's move is not welcome news for the Democratic nominee, Rep. Kendrick Meek. "I can assure you that this call will provide you with an opportunity to know the Governor of Florida better, and I am certain you will end up realizing that he is one of the most promising national leaders of our generation," Jacobson, who served as finance chair at the Democratic National Committee under President Bill Clinton, wrote in an email obtained by Roll Call, according to CQ.
Jacobson, whose husband is pollster Mark Penn, has supported moderate Democratic leaders including Indiana presidential hopeful Sen. Evan Bayh as well as a centrist movement dubbed "No Labels."
