Mary Bird, Author of "Bird's Eye View"

Mary is a social columnist for TheGeorgetownDish and other publications. She previously served as a consulting editor to The Social Register Observer in New York. She is a board member of the Wellness Community–Greater Washington, which provides support to cancer patients and their caregivers, and Forum Theatre. She is active in the The National Society of Arts and Letters, National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Washington Ballet, Arts for the Aging and The Georgetown House Tour among other endeavors. Fluent in French, Italian, and Spanish, Mary served as Chief of Translation at the U.S. Department of State where she has significant management as well as linguistic responsibilities. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College. Mary's late husband Collins Bird was a prominent hotelier who opened and for many years operated The Georgetown Inn.
