Inauguration 2013 + Dior

December 3, 2012

As Inauguration 2013 quickly approaches, this not only means we prepare to welcome back the President but it also means that Yours Truly is feverishly thumbing through all my designer look books for the most fabulous looks to adorn on my clients for their respective Inaugural Balls.  How fitting that I'm a Stylist for Dior because I can always always turn to the House to provide the most stunning, ladylike and sophisticated looks.

Soooo, here are a few of my favorite RTW and Haute Couture Inaugural Ball-ready picks!

Nikki Poulos Takes D.C. by Storm!

October 22, 2012

It may have been a rainy, windy and cold night this past Friday but it was anything but dreary insideElla-Rue for the Nikki Poulos Trunk Show.  The Miami-based designer and Season 1 Finalist on NBC's 'Fashion Star' Nikki Poulos arrived in D.C. excited to meet all her D.C. fans!

Yours Truly with Nikki Poulos and Krista Johnson

A former scientist originally hailing from "down unda' '", Nikki turned a new leaf a few years ago when she created a line of women's dresses and swimwear and before she knew it her swim designs were featured in Sports Illustrated Swim Issue and sold in Anthropologie!  Next up, she auditioned for 'Fashion Star' and received buys from Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and H&M and the rest is history.   Nikki described her desire to create pieces that flatter the woman's figure yet are easy and comfortable to wear.  Nikki's signature is her use of unique prints and fabulous fabrics which she says is accredited to her traveling the world to "shop for the finest best fabrics and prints" she can find.

Nikki was hands-on assisting everyone with trying on her garments and picking the right looks for their body shape.  The fitting rooms had quite a wait but it was well worth it as Nikki extended a special discount of 30% off to all of her special guests.

Guests were so in love with her pieces that she ran out of inventory and had to take mail orders!  Many guests jumped on the chance to purchase since everything she does is limited and once it's sold out it won't appear again.

A special thanks to Krista Johnson, Owner of Ella Rue, and Store Manager Lolly Amons for hosting us and serving some delicious deserts and bubbly!  Thanks also to Vithaya Photography for capturing beautiful pictures of the event!

Every time I wear my Nikki Poulos maxi dresses I get asked "where'd you get that!?", so I was thrilled to have Nikki for a trunk show and it was such a success that she'll be back for another in the early Spring! Stay tuned :o)

Visit Nikki Poulos at where you can shop her entire collection!

Ella-Rue is located at 3231 P St., NW, so next time you're in Georgetown stop by!
